While thousands of voters are turned away from polling places every Election Day, the Denton Co. GOP makes nonsense claims like this to block change: Countywide voting would lead to long lines at polling places. They ignore that our current assigned-precinct voting system has long lines on Election Days in some locations. And at least with Vote Centers if lines were long at one location, you could go directly to another where your vote would count.

Current and former Election Workers: add your name to the list of Election Workers supporting Vote Centers by joining Election Workers for Vote Centers. You decide how much you want to be involved. That can range from adding your name to the list of election workers supporting countywide Election Day voting to sharing your story about redirecting voters on Election Day on social media to speaking in person for Vote Centers at a County Commission meeting.

The GOP chair says that if we had countywide Election Day voting, voters would lose the warm feeling of meeting their friends in the assigned precinct polling location where they are now forced to vote on Election Day. The truth is that most voters want to get in, cast their ballot and get on with their business as fast as possible.
