Protect your vote. Sign the petition NOW!
This petition is for everyone 18 and older who lives in Denton County, Texas.
There's power in numbers! Add your name to our long list of voters tired of being frustrated or disenfranchised because they showed up at the wrong polling place on Election Day.
Every Election Day in Denton County, thousands of voters show up at every polling place in our county, only to be told that, by law, they can’t vote there or, if they do, their ballot won’t be counted.
As Election Day poll workers, we've had to turn away hundreds of legally registered voters:
• Disabled folks with wheelchairs and walkers.
• Working parents who rushed to pick up their kids and arrived at the wrong place too late to vote anywhere else,
• Confused newcomers who didn't have this problem when they voted in neighboring counties or other states.
It happens a lot: 10-15% of Election Day voters in every election -- more than 7,000 Republican, Democrat and independent voters on Election Day, November 2024.
If our elected officials refuse to act, it will happen again in November and on every Election Day in the future...and the problem will get worse as the county grows.
Election workers don't want to turn away registered voters, but it's the county law. THAT LAW CAN BE CHANGED! It wouldn't be hard to change.
85% of Texas voters already have countywide voting on Election Day, also known as Vote Centers. They can vote in any polling place in their county on Election Day, just like in Early Voting.
We don’t have that right in Denton County because the County Commission and the chairman of the county Republican Party won’t agree to allow the same secure countywide voting system on Election Day that we use for Early Voting. These are all elected officials.
If you are 18 or older and live in Denton County, TX, sign our petition and tell them you want the same countywide Election Day voting rights as 85 per cent of Texas voters.
Then be on the lookout for an email about how you can make your voice even more powerful on this issue!
