Let county officials know it’s time to act in just a few hours of your time.
Use your words! Send emails to our county leaders telling them you support voting centers and want them to act now. Here's a sample email you should put into your own words.
Send two emails:
• One email to County Judge Andy Eads, the chief executive who’s elected countywide, at andy.eads@dentoncounty.gov, and
• One email to the commissioner who represents your area. (Find the name and email address of your commissioner.)
Let your voice be heard! Sign up to speak for less than 3 minutes during the Public Input period at the beginning of a County Commissioners weekly Tuesday morning meeting. Bring a friend to speak too!
Here's a sample speech to download and put into your own words with a map and directions to the Denton County Administration building. For more information on the issue, see FAQ.
Say cheese! After you email and/or speak, check in to the public Voting Centers Now! Facebook Group to post a copy of the email you sent and/or your speech with a selfie or a short video. This will help show our commissioners and others that lots of people care about this issue.
(If you’re bashful, skip the photo/selfie/video, just post your email and/or speech.)
Spread the word! Sign up for email alerts. (We won't flood your inbox. And absolutely no fundraising requests, promise.) Share this website on social media, talk to your friends, people you work with. Send them an email with a link to this website.
If you belong to a local club, ask other members to pitch in. Explain the problem and share this URL at a club meeting, or invite a volunteer to speak to your group.
If your group meets virtually, we are happy to arrange an Zoom call presentation. Another option is to play the 18-minute video version at your meeting by using the YouTube link: https://youtu.be/APrVm5ybHVY
If public speaking's your thing, sign up to volunteer for a Speaker's Bureau to respond to requests for talks on this issue. Include name, street address and city in the email and what times and days of the week you are most likely available.
